From Little Monster To Little Monster: Finding Yourself Through Lady Gaga

Twitter update - 24/06/13

It's always important to find your place in this world and a lot of us little monsters at our post-teen ages (18-24) struggle a lot with this. I am writing this article to do a little explaining about myself.

I honestly miss promoting and supporting Lady Gaga in everything she does. As all of her fans know, she is one of the most amazing people we have ever laid eyes on, one of the most amazing voices in music we have have ever come to listen too. She has worked really hard for her to be where she's at right now and it's a total shame for anyone to come and hate her.

On a personal level, Lady Gaga has helped shape me a lot of who I have become today. I always enjoyed her music, however, when I watched the Bad Romance music video for the first time ever, this was the moment where I labeled myself a little monster. I was crazy for Gaga. Her style, theatricality through her performances, and the immaculate metaphors she presents through her lyrics is quite outstanding that makes her iconic pop star she is. When all critics thought originality was lost, Gaga popped out in 2008 and saved music. There's no doubt about that.

Anyways. Back to me. I remember going to bed 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 because Lady Gaga's new single, "Born This Way", was going to be released on my Detroit radio station at 5:00 a.m. the next morning. I wanted to hear this song and I also wanted enough energy for school the next day. Well, I honestly couldn't sleep. I woke up countless times that night and finally, when my alarm clock said 3:37 a.m., I thought, "fuck it. I'm staying up for this." I logged onto Twitter on my Blackberry and chatted with little monsters talking about our excitement for this new single. I even remember that the last song I listened to before being liberated with this new song was Katy Perry's "Firework". You honestly never forget life changing moments like these.

Lady Gaga has changed me for a better person. I honestly don't think with the help of "Born This Way", I wouldn't be able to come out to my friends as gay and be proud of who I am. On a different level, I was always ashamed of having an interest to Britney Spears because I always thought her music was way to feminine to grow fond of or proclaim to the public. Well, Lady Gaga changed that. She taught me and the rest of her fans that it's okay to be proud of who you are. Britney Spears made me gay and I'm totally fine with that.

With that all being said, I am hoping it is acceptable for me to update the site like it used to be. I have gone through so many experiences that are both physical and spiritual. And what I want to do now is come back home. I miss my little monster friends and I miss getting along with everyone. My life is enjoyable, but socializing with people online is part of what I am. I love Lady Gaga to the bottom of my heart and after writing this, I have grown a new love for her little monsters. In the end, it's fun being a little monster.

To conclude, never be scared to explore new interests, dream, and learn new things. And if it's too frightening for you, you know you can always come back home. And my home is Lady Gaga.

Sincerely yours,
Richard Yurcak
